Columbia River Prowler - Combo Serrated Edge
Peter Marzitelli is a Canadian Knifemakers Guild member who is noted for his striking, hard edged designs. When we began to translate his custom Prowler into a CRKT production model, we realized that it would be the heaviest duty InterFrame build we have ever made, and that is saying something. This is a real bull of a work knife, with a 0.16 in. (4 mm) thick blade and 0.60 in. (1.5 mm) thick liners.
Not only does the Prowler use our already strong InterFrame build, with dual stainless steel 420J2 liners, one locking, but its open construction uses four stainless steel spacers and superior Torx® fasteners, resulting in the most rigid, flex-free handle we have seen in a production knife. Black, heavily textured Zytel® scales give superior grip and resistance to abrasion and chemicals that make this a work knife you'll use for decades.
The blade is a shape we can only call 'uniquely Marzitelli' with a pronounced thumb ramp with friction grooves and a notched top edge which leads into the milled blade opening thumb grooves, which permit ambidextrous opening. Made of tough AUS 6M stainless steel in a non-reflective bead blast finish. Following standard CRKT practice, we use Teflon® bearings at the blade pivot to make opening and closing as smooth as possible.
The gray Teflon-plated custom removable stainless steel clothing/gear clip is mounted near the front of the handle for a low carry position. Finally we've added the patented Lake And Walker Knife Safety (LAWKS®), which provides maximum lock-up security when the recessed lever is pushed forward by the touch of the thumb.
Frankly, Marzitelli's angular no-nonsense design may not appeal to everyone, but the Prowler is not just another pretty face. It's a clear statement of strength and function that you'll appreciate as you enjoy the performance of the Prowler every day for, say, the next twenty years.
